
Having trained in film, architecture & music, Angus’ filmic approach as a director, writer and cinematographer is quite unique. He has collaborated on many film projects within documentary, dance, music and art.
In 2023, Angus had a film premiere at the Venice Biennale of Dance; I’m in a Forest co-directed with Lucy Guerin. He directed, shot & edited the documentary ‘Making Infinity’ (2024), however, before that, he worked for many years as a cinematographer, shooting several feature films including Motorkite Dreaming (2016), and Strange Birds in Paradise: A West Papuan Story (2009) for which he was nominated for an Australian AFI award. He has also shot documentaries about srtists Lynette Walworth & Brook Andrew, & directed a film about writer Gerald Murnane. His work has taken him to over 20 countries, & he speaks basic Japanese & terrible French.
Angus has a strong background in performance. First as an actor; working on theatre productions and commercials when he was younger, then as a musician, performing on stage & performing music for screen. He has shot more than 80 music videos, including for artists such as ‘Peaches’. Angus’ experiences as a performer and musician very much informs his approach in bringing the story to life.
